Project Description

Providing experience and trainings necessary for farmers

The quality of wine is directly related to the quality of grape. The quality of grape in its turn depends on proper cultivation. Shaping or pruning grapevines is the first important work. Other important factors are tying the grapevine, tilling the garden, irrigation and grapevine injection.

Correct and timely organization of the processes is a guarantee of harvest of high quality. For this reason the specialists of ''YWU” NGO have done process planning and discussed the directions of its implementation together with the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries have provided one or two sectors in their own gardens to cultivate according to the requirements of the project. These parts were pruned by Guyo's method and earlier than the villagers usually do.  The rest of the vineyard was pruned by the villagers in accordance with their own planning, by  fan or cordon systems.

The organizers explained the farmers the importance of dry tying and the characteristic features of dry tying by Guyo’s method.

Support to Viticulture

The specialists of the project have participated in the process of pruning. Members of “YWU” NGO and students of “EVN” have joined for proper and quick organization of the pruning process. Such issues as the depth of tilling and the necessity of irrigation have been discussed with the beneficiaries. The members of the initiative have organized a meeting with the head of community to share their concerns about the lack of irrigation possibilities.

The names and dosages of medicines and preventive measures have been discussed with beneficiaries as well. The injection is scheduled for April 15-20
